Giant Skates to Fill: Media Event with Mayor Steve Bach and 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Champion Rachael Flatt on Dec. 19

With the 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships on the horizon, Mayor Steve Bach, Olympian Rachael Flatt, U.S. Figure Skating executive director David Raith and the community come together to celebrate this international event coming to the Colorado Springs World Arena, Feb. 9-12, 2012.  Single session tickets for the competition go on sale Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. The 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships is an International Skating Union (ISU) sanctioned event that will feature 100 top figure skaters from North America, Asia, Australia and Africa.

 What:                  

  •  On the blades of the single-session ticket sales announcement, U.S. Figure Skating invites media representatives to meet the larger-than-life Rachael Flatt. 
  • We say this literally. On the northwest corner of Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue in downtown Colorado Springs, there is a 45-foot vinyl wrap of longtime resident and 2010 Olympian Rachael Flatt.
  • The figure skating champion herself will meet at the site of her giant skates for a dedication with Mayor Steve Bach and U.S. Figure Skating officials, including executive director David Raith.

 When:

  • 11:15 a.m.  Please meet no later than 11 a.m.
