Challenge Gift Helps St. Louis Nonprofit Reconsider Its Options: GO! Network Rallies Donors to Keep Doors Open

(St. Louis) – Recognizing the tremendous need for GO! Network’s support and training services for displaced workers in our community, an anonymous donor has pledged $10,000 and challenges nine other donors to do the same to fully fund GO!’s operations for one-year.  To date, a second donor has pledged $10,000.  And Centene Corporation is  committed  to this campaign as well.

As executive director Roni Chambers explained, “We have served more than 4,300  members since we opened our doors in January 2009 and the need for our services is as strong as ever. Our dedicated team of volunteers is committed to moving forward but we can’t do so without the financial support of our community.”

Since separating from Anheuser-Busch in March of 2010, Ms. Chambers has donated personal funds and thousands of volunteer hours to GO!’s mission, including her service for the last year as executive director. In order to continue operations on a full-time basis, the GO! has to move toward long-term sustainability, which includes hiring paid staff. Upcoming programs include speakers such as; Dr. Benjamin Akande, Dean Walker School of Business and Technology, Webster University; William Donius, author, Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius; Fred Miller, No Sweat Public Speaking; and Dr. Kathy Cramer, Founder & Managing Partner, The Cramer Institute.

Chambers continues, “with GO! Network members reporting a re-employment rate of greater than 80% the relevance and effectiveness of our programs is clear. My hope now is that our members and other program participants will rise to the challenge. We will only receive the $20,000 already pledged IF we can secure eight more $10,000 gifts. If every one of the 4,300 people we have served over the last three years gave $2.50 they would collectively be one of those eight. If each gave $2.50 a month for a year GO! Network’s operations would be fully funded.”

Tom Teasdale, Jr., GO! Network member/alumni, volunteer and donor adds, “individuals who attend GO!’s Tuesday meetings or other activities know the impact it has on their ability to move forward from separation to re-hire. The companies who hire GO! members know what a valuable pool of talent we help keep in St. Louis through their employment transition. Frankly, St. Louis’ economy and quality of life is stronger thanks to the work GO! Network does every day.”

GO! Network is actively seeking individual, corporate and foundation gifts to continue operations. Donations can be made online at

GO! Network is a 501c3 that was developed in January 2009 in direct response to the economic and employment crisis that began to unfold the prior year, as a means to address the needs of the rapidly growing population of unemployed professionals in our region.

The GO! Network curriculum focuses on creating a workforce that possesses the skill and ability to thrive in their chosen professions and weather the unavoidable job transitions with honor and a new level of preparedness to embrace all challenges as opportunities to discover their life’s work. We achieve this goal through a holistic approach that includes an education process for displaced workers that challenges them to develop their technical and soft skills, empowers employers to make informed decisions about our job seekers and leads the public to a deeper understanding of the employment opportunities that lie before us as a nation.

We would like to thank our amazing partners; St. Patrick Center (event space), Momentum Worldwide (marketing), Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal (legal advice), hundreds of dynamic speakers for their unwavering faith in our mission, and the hundreds of volunteers who share their expertise and keep us operating.  Thanks also goes to the many individual donors who contribute to the sustainability of GO! Network for as long as our services are needed.
