ATLANTA – April 30, 2012 - The PRSA Foundation and Arketi Group Principal Mike Neumeier, APR and his wife, Kelly, today announced the establishment of “The Neumeier Family Leadership Award” for Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) members in Georgia and Florida.

“As a PRSSA alum and past national president, I was honored to be inducted into the PRSSA Hall of Fame in 2010,” said Neumeier.  “The leadership skills I developed during my time at the University of Florida as a PRSSA leader helped prepare me for my career. The experiences have been truly instrumental in my growth as a PR professional, and I am eager to promote those opportunities for the next generation of public relations leadership.”

This award recognizes PRSSA students (undergraduate or graduate) who demonstrate leadership in PRSSA, on campus or in their community. Students must be PRSSA members at an accredited college or university in Florida or Georgia. The recipient will be selected by a committee from the PRSA Counselors Academy and will be honored with the $1,000 award at the PRSSA National Conference.

“The PRSA Foundation is happy to work with the Neumeiers to invest in the future of the profession through the establishment of this annual scholarship,” said Gail Rymer, APR, president of the PRSA Foundation. “The PRSA Foundation has made it easy for individuals and organizations to establish scholarships and awards similar to The Neumeier Family Leadership Award, and we hope others will follow Mike and Kelly’s lead in giving back to the public relations community. It is especially rewarding to see former PRSSA leaders experience such career success and to honor the role the organization played in their accomplishments by helping today’s students do the same.”
