KAHULUI, MAUI– Armstrong Pacific has been awarded a $1.8-million contract to build the first phase of a new Easter Seals Hawaii facility in Kahului, Maui. The project, which includes the renovation of a 6,000-square-foot building, is expected to be complete by August 2012.
The renovation of the former Kamehameha Schools and Maui Land & Pineapple Co. preschools will include new classrooms to accommodate training and recreational programs; new plumbing and electrical wiring; new bathrooms, a new roof, and air conditioning and ventilation system. In addition, Armstrong Pacific will resurface the parking lot, install new landscaping and irrigation and build a new covered pavilion.
“We’re eager to get started on this amazing project for a great non-profit,” said Armstrong Pacific Project Manager Kevin Keller. “It’s not only going to fulfill a real need here on Maui, but will also help to boost the building industry through the creation of at least 50 construction jobs.”
Easter Seals Hawaii is a non-profit organization that serves infants, children and adults with disabilities and special needs. The new campus will provide a venue for youth and adults with special needs to participate in social and recreational programs. Additionally, the new facility will serve as a center for work-training programs.
