As we start this with the Essentials of Rappelling it is presumed that we are at the top of a high point to which we want to get down safely and easily as possible. There are a few things that we would need to descend down a vertical surface, but prior to discussing that I need to quickly discuss Safety. As Rappelling is a high risk sport and any errors in judgment can and may lead to severe injury and/or death. Extreme care should be taking prior to starting any high risk sport and should not be done without prior training.
