The Exporter of the Year Award is presented to one North Dakota business each year. This year, Governor Jack Dalrymple honored JM Grain, an Avitus Group client, with the award. "JM Grain represents the vision and innovation that have positioned North Dakota as a competitive force in the global marketplace. This company began as a family farm and now exports product from Garrison, North Dakota to markets all across the world, contributing to the state's rapid export growth." - Governor Jack Dalrymple.
To win the award, JM Grain had to: expand to a new international market in 2011; increase its export sales during 2011; support the larger, statewide effort to expand North Dakota's global reach. JM Grain purchases and sells chickpeas, lentils, feed peas, green peas, yellow peas and seed. Services include on the farm pick up of grain. JM Grain is licensed and bonded as a grain buyer in North Dakota & Montana with company headquarters in Garrison, North Dakota. The company also has an additional office in Great falls, Montana. Governor Dalrymple presented JM Grain Vice-President Marvin Flaten and his wife Beverly Flaten with the award in April during the NDTO (North Dakota Trade Office) Global Business Connections 2012 conference in Fargo. Avitus Group is in communication with the North Dakota Trade Office. "We are happy to be one of the newest members of such a great organization. NDTO aims to connect North Dakota business owners with quality resources that can help their business expand globally. We are proud to be an official NDTO International Business Resource, offering our Go Global service to business owners." – Kenneth Balster, VP of Marketing, Avitus Group.
A word from Marvin Flaten, Vice President, JM Grain
“It was a pleasure to speak with Avitus Group regarding the recognition JM Grain, Inc recently received as the “Exporter of the Year” for the State of North Dakota. We have utilized Avitus’s payroll services for the past 3 years. The service you have provided has been excellent. By out-sourcing this function JM Grain has been able to devote more concentrated attention to our business which is processing and exporting peas, beans and lentils. We rely on the expert personnel at Avitus to handle the ever changing rules and regulations regarding issues of State and Federal Tax reporting as they apply to our business. As our business continues to grow I recognize the need for our company to take advantage of other of the many services Avitus has to offer. Avitus Group’s service of providing strategies to enter the European markets will add value to companies new to that market and to companies such as ours that already sell into the European markets. In country “on the ground” representation is invaluable in terms of local regulations, customs and special requirements of the importing country.” - Marvin Flaten, Vice President, JM Grain
