Bailey Lauerman's "A Christmas Story" poster draws its inspiration from the play's main theme - young Ralphie's wish for a Red Rider BB gun from Santa. The typography appears as if Ralphie himself shot BBs to spell out the title.
Each year Communication Arts invites the world's leading professionals from advertising, graphic design, photography, illustration, interactive, and now typography design communities to be considered for inclusion in their annual books in each of these visual art fields. Among the thousands of submissions, hand-selected judges choose the most compelling work of the year in each category. Winning artists and their work appear in the annuals, which feature the most accomplished people in the industry.
The recognition comes on the heels of Bailey Lauerman's selection as a silver award winner in the 2010 W3 Awards competition. The W3 Awards honor outstanding websites, web marketing, web video and mobile apps. The agency's online design for the 2009 LES Annual Report received for the silver award. This year's W3 competition received more than 3,000 entries from around the world.
Both pieces of award-winning work are available for viewing at www.baileylauerman.com in the "portfolio" section.
