GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN. – The age-old hymn celebrates how Christians “love to tell the story” of Jesus Christ, as well as their own personal journeys to faith. Such will be the focus of the 11th annual Holy Week art exhibit taking place at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minn., on Palm Sunday, April 1, through Easter Sunday, April 8.
The “I Love to Tell the Story” art show is free and open to the public. Exhibit hours are:
- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 1.
- 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday-Friday, April 2-6.
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 7.
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, April 8.
Inspired by the exhibit’s theme, members and friends of Calvary will display works of photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and calligraphy using such media as oil, acrylic, watercolor, ceramic, metal, glass, textiles and wood. Visit calvary.org/artshow for more details.
The exhibit’s featured artist will be the Rev. Paul Oman of “Drawn to the Word,” a year-round ministry that merges Oman’s experience as an ordained pastor with his talents as a painter. Through “Drawn to the Word” events, Oman paints murals among live audiences “…so that God’s story can once again be told, seen, remembered and retold for years to come.”
In addition to displaying his work in the exhibit, Oman will paint a complete mural depicting Jesus’ crucifixion at each of Calvary’s Good Friday services: 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Friday, April 6. After the services, Oman will be available from 8 to 9 p.m. to greet art-show visitors.
