Calvary invites community to celebrate love, joy and the Christmas story

Holiday schedule features Early Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's worship services

GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN. – The love and joy of Christmas are great cause for celebration, and that spirit will carry through the entire holiday season at Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, Minn. The public is invited to join the many worship celebrations occurring at Calvary, which is located at 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley.

On Saturday, Dec. 24, Calvary will host a total of seven Christmas Eve services, two of which will be geared especially for families. Taking place at 2 and 3:30 p.m., the family services will feature songs and a message appealing to all ages. An American Sign Language interpreter will help lead worship at the 3:30 p.m. service.

Later that day, candlelight services will be held at 5, 8, 9:30 and 11 p.m. The 5 p.m. service will also feature some the family-friendly elements mentioned above. The 11 p.m. service will include Holy Communion.

Nursery care for children ages 5 and under will be available during the 2, 3:30 and 5 p.m. services.

Christmas Eve festivities will also feature a 6:30 p.m. Spanish service, followed by refreshments of tamales and hot chocolate.

Christmas Day on Sunday, Dec. 25, will entail a 10 a.m. worship service. A Spanish service is also planned for 11:15 a.m.  

Calvary is also offering an alternative for those who cannot attend worship over the Christmas weekend. On Wednesday, Dec. 21, the church will host an Early Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Nursery care for children ages 5 and under will be available during the service. A holiday buffet dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. will precede the service at a cost of $8 for adults, $6 for grades 7-12, $4 for ages 4 through grade 6, and free for age 3 and under. Calvary’s holiday celebrations will conclude with a New Year’s Eve worship service on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 5 p.m., as well as New Year’s Day services on Sunday, Jan. 1, at 8:45 and 10 a.m. A Spanish service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. All New Year’s services will include Holy Communion.
