Cartus Employees and their Children Receive an A+ on "Bring Your Children to Work Day"

DANBURY, Conn., (April 26, 2012) —  Employees of all levels at Cartus Corporation added a  few extra smiles to their workday as the global relocation services company welcomed 134 of their children to its Danbury headquarters office for “Bring Your Children to Work Day” on April 26.

Organized by the Cartus Human Resources staff and volunteers, the event, held annually at the Danbury site for more than 10 years, kicked off with each child receiving a backpack and visitor badge, followed by a hearty welcome from Tony Bosco, vice president, Relocation Accounting.

"’Bring Your Children to Work Day’” is a great opportunity for children of our employees to see their parents’ work environments firsthand, and our employees truly value the opportunity to spend time with their children during a work day," said Amy Meichner, senior vice president, Cartus Global HR. "With the help of all the volunteers, the day was a tremendous success.”

The full day of activities included: taking a tour of the Cartus headquarters; participating in breakout sessions that included a discussion of bullying led by a Danbury police officer; trying their hands at the Japanese art of origami with employees of the Intercultural and Language Solutions department; and gaining an idea of what is involved in a relocation from a child’s perspective from members of the Learning & Development group.

Additionally, they were treated to a life-size version of the “Candy Land” game from Client Services and learned about public speaking for kids, courtesy of the Cartus chapter of Toastmasters International. After lunch and ice cream with their parents, they played Wii games, sang Karaoke, did arts and crafts, played bingo, tried their hands at putting golf balls, and played with sand art.

Last year, Cartus was selected as one of only 35 "Top Workplaces” in the Connecticut counties of Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield, based on an independent employee survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics LLC and sponsored by Hearst Communications’ SouthernCT-Jobs.com Web site.
