ATLANTA (June 20, 2012)Cbeyond Inc. (NASDAQ: CBEY), a leading provider of cloud and network services to small and medium sized businesses, has received a prestigious 2012 Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence from Points of Light, the leading volunteer organization which connects people to their power to make a meaningful difference by providing access to tools, resources and volunteer opportunities. The award recognizes Cbeyond’s commitment to community involvement and the successes of its employee volunteer program.

Distributed annually, the Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence honors companies that have implemented and driven participation in service efforts, and as a result, have developed a workplace culture that invites employees to give back to the communities in which they live and work.

Cbeyond accepted the award during the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, the world’s largest gathering of service and civic engagement leaders, on June 19, 2012, in Chicago. Additional honorees include Kraft Foods, Inc. and Timberland, LLC.

Since its founding, Cbeyond has strived to create a culture that values service, both for customers and communities. Mirroring the entrepreneurial spirit of the company and its small business customers, Cbeyond maintains a “passion-led, employee-driven” dedication to community involvement, and encourages its team to volunteer in areas of interest. The company additionally contributes its time, talent and technology to support the initiatives and organizations in which its employees participate.

“Volunteerism improves the communities in which we operate, and helps Cbeyond create a dynamic corporate culture that enhances our workplace,” said Jim Geiger, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Cbeyond. “Our employees are encouraged to give back and grow personally and professionally through their volunteer efforts. We know how meaningful this award is, and it is truly an honor to be recognized by an organization like Points of Light."

In March 2012, Cbeyond was named one of "America's 100 Most Trustworthy Companies" by Forbes magazine. Additionally, the company recently received a BEST Award recognizing its employee development programs by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
