Vanguard Cross Country Team Sweeps Rocky Ford XC Invitational

The Vanguard School's Girls XC Team Wins the Meet

The Colorado Springs charter school, Vanguard, is excelling in more than just academics. Vanguard's Girls Cross Country Team swept the competition at the Rocky Ford Cross Country Invitational, which took place on September 1, 2011. Trained by Coach Steve Read and Assistant Coach Kelly Chermack, the Vanguard students Rachel Hough, Jessy Sweet, and Corrine Huthoefer took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively of all runners (3A and 4A schools included). The girls team swept the top 6 places in the 2A competition to take the 1st place team trophy.

Alan Versaw, writer of Colorado Track XC's 2A Top Five Teams article, refers to the Vanguard Lady Coursers as a "dangerous team" with the most "upside potential...than any others of [his] top five [girls cross country teams]."
