Details: In celebration of National Pancake Day, IHOP restaurants throughout the Central Valley will offer each guest a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes all day in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals. Children's Hospital Central California is the local CMN hospital and all proceeds raised in the Central Valley will be donated to Children's.
The Clovis IHOP location will serve as the media site this year with special areas set up for morning live shots. Interviews will be available with IHOP personnel, Children's staff, customers and dignitaries.
Background: IHOP will give away millions of free pancakes to guests at their restaurants throughout the United States on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Anticipating that a delicious short stack of complimentary buttermilk pancakes will spur a generous spirit, each guest will be encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Now in its sixth year and with over 1,500 restaurants participating, IHOP hopes to raise $2.3 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities with its National Pancake Day celebration. This amount marks IHOP's goal to bring the total amount of monies raised for local charities to more than $7.5 million in six years.
Pancake Day has been celebrated for centuries as Shrove Tuesday, which marks Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday), when the foods forbidden during Lent are all used up and made into pancakes. All proceeds raised at participating Central Valley IHOP restaurants will go directly to Children's Hospital Central California.
