TOLEDO, Ohio, May 21, 2012 – Combining soft colors and golf action shots in a watercolor treatment, the official 2012 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic poster dramatically demonstrates the mix of style and precision that typifies women’s professional golf.

Created by Communica Graphic Designer Ben Morales, the poster’s style is a nod to David Garibaldi, a performance painter who will be showcasing his talents at the tournament’s Opening Gala Aug. 7. “Garibaldi creates beautiful, expressive paintings with extraordinary style, rhythm and dance-like movements,” Morales said. “I wanted to design a poster that captured that dynamic presence.” The poster, completed in a watercolor texture, features past participants in the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic – including Na Yeon Choi, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson and Morgan Pressel. Morales chose his color palette and design approach, because, “I wanted it to look soft and subtle but at the same time vibrant and dynamic.”

Since the inception of the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic in 1984, Communica has been involved with many of the creative aspects of the tournament, including logo creation, poster design and advertising. “The poster design is a sort of creative competition among our designers,” explained Jeff Kimble, Communica CEO. “Each year we ask our designers to create a poster for the tournament. The people at Toledo Classic, Inc., choose their favorite design each year.”

“We were very impressed with all the ideas for the tournament poster,” said Jim Decker of the Toledo Classic. "But we were especially taken with the artistic style of this poster, and its connection to the gala and the tournament.”

The poster design reflects both Garibaldi’s performance style and the inspirational spirit of the tournament. Over the last 27 years, the tournament, with the support of the community and local businesses, has raised and donated millions of dollars to support charities and programs that improve the lives of children across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Presenting sponsors of the 2012 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic include Kroger, Owens Corning and O-I. The tournament is Aug. 6 to 12 at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Sylvania. For more information about sponsors, charities, volunteer opportunities and tickets, visit jamiefarrtoledoclassic.com.
