PARK CITY, Utah – Prepping for two elite races in the domestic racing spotlight in southern California, the Competitive Cyclist Racing Team today announces its rosters for the 13th annual San Dimas Stage Race in San Dimas, Calif. (March 16-18) and the Redlands Bicycle Classic in Redlands, Calif. (March 22-25). Celebrating its 28th year, the Redlands Bicycle Classic kicks off the 2012 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) season.
Team Director Sportif Gord Fraser named the following riders for the two stage races:
San Dimas Stage Race: Francisco “Paco” Mancebo (ESP), Chad Beyer (USA), Ian Burnett (USA), Taylor Shelden (USA), Nate King (USA), Tommy Nankervis (AUS), Rob Britton (CAN) and Ivan Dominguez (USA).
Redlands Bicycle Classic: Francisco “Paco” Mancebo (ESP), Chad Beyer (USA), Ian Burnett (USA), Taylor Shelden (USA), Nate King (USA), Tommy Nankervis (AUS) and Rob Britton (CAN).
“In an effort to make sure everyone on our Team had the chance to compete in a solid racing block this early season, we took a risk - half our Team is at San Dimas, half is at the Tour de Mexico,” said Fraser. “The intention was good, but unfortunately we now have to deal with two injuries that are leaving us short-handed.”
While the Team is split the next two weeks competing in races in the U.S. and Mexico, Britton and Dominguez will bring added support for the upcoming stage races. Britton will be racing with the Team in both races and Dominguez will only race in San Dimas.
“Ivan Dominguez and Rob Britton will be suiting up with us for San Dimas. Ivan is a former teammate of mine; he’s a smart racer; he’s local; and he’s available to help us out. He’ll be able to work with Paco and our other GC contenders, as well as Tommy Nankervis in the sprints,” said Fraser. “Rob Britton is very aggressive and a versatile rider and we couldn't be happier to have them join us for our California openers, as well as provide them some great early season racing to help them achieve their respective goals.”
The Competitive Cyclist Racing Team enters the season-opening races in southern California after a recent successful showing at the Rutas de America in Uruguay capturing three top-20 General Classification finishes. Prior to competing in Uruguay, the Team held its weeklong training camp in Tucson, Ariz.
