Deconstruction & ReUse Network is Hiring Development Agents in Bay Area & Southern California

Seven Commission-Based Positions Available from San Diego to San Francisco

Laguna Beach, CA – November 11, 2011Deconstruction & ReUse Network, Inc. (DRN) is hiring Development Agents in Southern California and the Bay Area.  DRN is an environmental & social benefit corporation whose mission is to promote and empower deconstruction practices and the reuse of quality building materials. Development Agents help the organization maintain and grow its business by focusing on new project development.  DRN is looking to fill a total of seven positions in the Bay Area (East Bay, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Mateo) and Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.)

Development Agent Responsibilities:

  • Identify deconstruction project-candidates and educate relevant parties on the potential benefits of our program.   This process will largely employ a direct marketing approach, using letters, post cards and phone calls to initiate contact.
  • Develop and carry out program presentations based on a thorough understanding of decision-maker goals and the project-candidate’s general scope and logistics.
  • Further develop our network by forging new relationships with building and design professionals, community leaders, and complementary for- and non-profit organizations.
  • Increase awareness of deconstruction and building material reuse through more general forms of public outreach (e.g. communicating with local governments, trade show presence, etc.)
  • DRN is a qualified charitable organization [501(c)(3)], which strongly supports the green building movement by advancing the general environmental principal of "reduce, reuse and recycle" within the construction and demolition (C&D) industries.  The organization’s goal is to educate and empower homeowners, building industry professionals and civic leaders to adopt the practice of deconstruction as a rational alternative to traditional demolition, thereby keeping C&D materials out of landfills, while simultaneously growing a robust network of individuals and organizations committed to the reclamation and distribution of reusable building materials.

DRN collaborates with complimentary affordable home building organizations in an effort to better complete the circle of reuse. These include Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Los Angeles, Orange County, Southern Santa Barbara, and Sonoma County, along with the home building ministry, Corazón, which operates six community centers between Tijuana and Tecate.

The available positions are posted on Craigslist by region and be accessed online in the DRN Press Room as well. For more information contact admin@resusenetwork.org.
