DreamIt Ventures (“DreamIt”), a leading technology accelerator for entrepreneurs, announced today that Karen Griffith Gryga is joining the team as a Managing Director based in Philadelphia.  Karen is an experienced venture capitalist, investor and entrepreneur with close to 20 years of startup and emerging growth company experience. 

“DreamIt has built a tremendous platform over the past 4 years working with and launching 80 companies.  I am excited to work with the DreamIt team as we grow and work with more exceptional entrepreneurs launching exciting new companies” Karen said.

Karen was most recently CEO of FashInvest, which was, co-founded in 2009 with David Freschman, Managing Principal of Innovation Ventures, LP, a regional venture capital firm.  FashInvest is a business platform focused on entrepreneurs within Branded Goods, Fashion Tech, Fashion and Retail, a historically underserved segment of the entrepreneurial marketplace.  Karen will remain actively involved in the management of FashInvest as Chairman and Freschman will become CEO.  Freschman stated, “Karen is a tremendous asset to any organization.  I look forward to continuing to work with her in the global expansion FashInvest.”

Karen is also Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Angel Group, which has two angel funds under management.  Karen will remain Executive Director of MAG for the near term, managing the transition to a new Executive Director over the next 6-12 months.

Karen has also been a Co-Founder of Liberty Venture Partners, an early stage regional venture fund with $150 million under management; a Fund Manager in Residence at Context Capital Partners, a developer of next generation private equity concepts; and CEO of Lipstick Wisdom a start-up whose focus was on practical, actionable video-based day-to-day advice for moms with children with neurological challenges.
