New Emerson Network Power DCH5 Series External Wall Mount Adapters Feature USB Outputs

Power supplies meet Energy Star Efficiency Level V and are ErP compliant

Carlsbad, Calif. [20 July, 2011] - A new range of 5 watt USB wall mount ac-dc adapters, the DCH5 series, is being launched today by Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical ContinuityT. The adapters are based on an elegant all-in-one design, which eliminates the need for dedicated power cable attachments and connectors. Instead, one side of the adapter plugs into the ac supply socket, and the dc output is made available via a standard USB Type A receptacle on the opposite side.

All Emerson Network Power DCH5 series adapters have a universal 100 to 240 Vac input, enabling them to be used worldwide, and generate a regulated 5 Vdc output capable of delivering up to 1 A continuously. The adapters operate in constant voltage/constant current mode, and are intended for powering any USB peripheral device rated at 5 W or less requiring an external power source. Typical applications include small networking equipment, and powering or charging devices such as smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, portable gaming devices and e-book readers.

Emerson Network Power offers a choice of four DCH5 models, featuring different ac input plugs for use in the United States, Europe, United Kingdom and Australia. Each model is extremely compact and weighs just 2.3 oz (66 g), making it suitable for inclusion in users' overseas travel bags. Its slim form factor also means that multiple DCH5 adapters can be plugged into dual wall outlets.

All four models employ the latest switch-mode power conversion technology and meet Level V of the Energy Star international efficiency standard for consumer devices. The Emerson Network Power DCH5 series also complies with the Tier 2 Energy-related Products (ErP) requirements of Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, which sets stringent standards for efficiency and standby energy consumption. The adapters have no minimum load requirement and a very low no-load power consumption of less than 300 mW.
