WASHINGTON – The National Association for State Community Services Programs (NASCSP), the nation’s premier national association charged with advocating and enhancing the leadership role of states in preventing and reducing poverty, has hired Environics Communications as the organization’s new national public relations agency.

Environics will work with NASCSP to develop and implement an integrated communications plan to raise the profile of the federal anti-poverty programs being administered through the states. Target audiences for communications outreach will include state members, national partners, the media, and legislative and government officials. Traditional and digital communications, including NASCSP’s social media accounts and blog, will be used in this proactive effort.

“After a competitive review, we selected Environics Communications because of their demonstrated expertise in many areas important to NASCSP, including energy efficiency, working with nonprofit organizations on a national and state level, and promoting the health, well-being and empowerment of low-income families,” said Timothy R. Warfield, executive director of NASCSP.

The effort will support multiple NASCSP programs directed to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities, and empower low-income families to become self-sufficient. Programs include the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) that assists low-income families in improving the energy efficiency of their home; the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) where funds are provided to states that then administer them to local agencies; and the Healthy Homes initiative, an effort to combat disease and injury in the home.

“The work being done by NASCSP has a profoundly positive impact on the lives of so many families around the U.S. through job creation, home weatherization, and other support programs. We’re very proud to help them tell their story through an integrated communications campaign that showcases their results,” said Environics’ U.S. General Manager Dave Groobert.
