EUGENE, OR - Over two-hundred and fifty homeless men from Cape Town, South Africa vie to play in the Homeless World Cup of soccer in Melborne, Australia. Eight are chosen in this documentary which received the 2010 Best International Subject award at the Eugene International Film Festival.
The soccer players picked are street savvy homeless ex-convicts, former gangsters, orphans and recovering drug addicts that have been chosen to represent their country in this prestigious international sports event with over 55 competiting countries. "Streetball" is a gripping documentary about leadership, athleticism, international cultures and empowering individuals to make a difference.
This special screening of "Streetball" is presented by ShelterCare, serving families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and adults who have a mental illness or brain injury. ShelterCare offers a variety of housing support services with a committed focus on the community's most vulnerable individuals.
