"First, we all love plundering powder. Second: It's no small task to come up with a ski design that cooly shows emotion and stoke while conveying the ski brand and name. Throw in another brand - Backcountry Magazine - and another font and the task is even more difficult. This designed balances all best, " Howard said. "Plus, pirates are bad-ass."

The SkiGraphiks Contest, which encourages people to submit their graphic designs for a ski via the G3 web site, runs in four separate segments over the winter. The top four designs are produced in limited-edition skis, and the winner of each segment gets a pair of custom skis with their design on the topsheet.
