Guelph Hydro Announces Appointment of New Board Members

Jan Carr, Robert Huggard, Margaret Kelch and Judy Fountain bring additional utility sector experience to the boards of Guelph Hydro

Guelph Hydro Inc., a holding company, 100 per cent owned by the City of Guelph and consisting of Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc., the local electricity distribution company that delivers electricity to Guelph and Rockwood, and Ecotricity Guelph Inc., an alternative energy company, announces the appointment of a number of new Board members.

Dr. Jan Carr has been appointed to serve on the Guelph Hydro Inc. Board of Directors. Dr. Carr has a Ph.D. in Electric Power Systems and 40 years of global experience in the electricity sector, including Asia, Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. He is a Board member of the Alberta Electric System Operator and Legend Power Systems, has served on the Board of TransAlta Power, and was CEO of the Ontario Power Authority and Vice-Chair of the Ontario Energy Board.

Ms. Judy Fountain, a member of the Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc. Board of Directors since 2009, will, in addition, serve on the Board of Directors of Guelph Hydro Inc. Ms. Fountain retired in 2007 after serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). She has a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science (Business Administration) degree from the University of British Columbia. She has served on the Boards of PBB Logistics Inc. and the Port Credit Yacht Club.

Mr. Robert (Bob) Huggard and Ms. Margaret Kelch are joining the Board of Directors of Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc.

Mr. Bob Huggard has an MBA from York University, an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and 30 years of business experience in the competitive and regulated sectors of the gas industry. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the SCITI Total Return Trust, the Ontario Energy Association, and the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and is currently on the Board of ProAction Cops&Kids, a charitable organization that funds activities led by police officers who volunteer their time to help children.

Ms. Margaret Kelch has a Bachelor of Arts degree, an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and more than 30 years of business experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Ms. Kelch was the President and CEO of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, played a key role in the 407ETR public private partnership as President of the Canadian Highways Management Company and is on the Board of the Electrical Safety Authority.
