Bradenton, Fla. (May 3, 2012) – IMG Academies is now accepting online registrations for their summer tennis camps, with weekly and multiple-week options available. Camp choices include the incorporation of ESL classes, SAT and TOEFL preparation, and high school classes, as well as training in communications, nutrition, vision, and physical and mental conditioning.
IMG student-athletes participate in skill level-specific camps with low student-to-coach ratios, learning proper ground strokes, techniques for serving, net play and volleying, and strategy. Student-athletes have access to video analysis, which breaks down their stroke technique and game movement for improvement. Three- and five-week camp options include optional entry into one or two on-campus USTA-sanctioned tournaments.
Student-athletes also receive mental training that includes breathing techniques and emotional control. They review match strategy and technique in “Nick’s War Room,” a classroom that provides an inspirational group setting for analysis.
IMG tennis camps are led by a staff with extensive collegiate and professional playing and coaching experience. Coaches execute the Bollettieri method of teaching – a method Nick Bollettieri has used to coach 10 worldwide No. 1-ranked players, including Andre Agassi, Venus and Serena Williams, Boris Becker and Maria Sharapova. IMG coaches include Jose Lambert, a former nationally ranked US junior and four-year letterman at the University of Arkansas who first trained with Bollettieri as a student before becoming a coach for the last three decades; David “Red” Ayme, a four-year letter winner at Nicholls State University and a coach at IMG for 24 years, who has worked with players like Marcelo Rios, Boris Becker and Tommy Haas; Mark Dalzell, a 26-year veteran who has coached the likes Jim Courier, Jimmy Arias and Anna Kournikova; and Paul Forsyth, a 24-year-veteran who at one point in his career was ranked No. 1 in Division I Athletics.
Tennis camps include boarding and non-boarding options for those traveling to IMG from all over the globe. Weekly, three-week and five-week camps provide the best value for athletes, with more time for athletes to focus and train with IMG tennis coaches and performance experts.
