Toddlers, parents will reduce, reuse, recycle fun during Summer Sprouts

Green Art Begins Wednesday, August 17

Toddlers and parents have spent this summer learning, exploring and playing in Impression 5's new First Impression Room during Summer Sprouts, and Wednesday, August 17, kicks off another week of science fun with Green Art! Summer Sprouts - a science-based playgroup for children ages 2 to 4 - consists of hour-long sessions designed to encourage toddlers to interact, explore and discover as they partake in hands-on activities that engage their minds, spark their curiosity, and deliver heaps of science fun!

At 9 a.m., parents and toddlers can gather around the giant model oak tree in the First Impression Room's welcome area before heading into the room to put their imaginations to the test! Toddlers will learn why it's so important to wear sunscreen outdoors during an experiment using UV lights to see exactly what that white lotion blocks out. They'll get a chance to test their recycling knowledge during a match game on the multi-user SMART Board. Toddlers will see and feel an energy source that's for the birds - birdseed - at the sensory table. And one man's trash - or recyclables - will become another man's treasure as everyone uses household recyclables to create works of art!

The Summer Sprouts program runs from June 15 through August 27, with sessions from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Pricing for Summer Sprouts is as follows:

Cost, per session: $7/member; $10/not-yet-a-member

Cost, for all 11 sessions: $70/member; $100/not-yet-a-member
