From T-Rex to the Tin Goose, summer days promise not to pass without extraordinary opportunities throughout Lake Erie and its shores.  Visitors to Lake Erie Shores and Islands will find a new mix of activities that are sure to excite all members of the family.

Cedar Point opens its season with Dinosaurs Alive!, Dragster H2O, Luminosity: Ignite the Night and a new Fast Lane program ensuring Cedar Point stays the Best Amusement Park in the World.  Kalahari Resort offers expanded space with state-of-the-art meeting and banquet facilities and brand new Nyumba Entertainment Villas that accommodate up to 22 overnight guests.  Great Wolf Lodge will be sure to cool off the kids with a brand-new ice cream themed children’s spa. Maui Sands is back with upscale, Hawaiian-themed hotel accommodations at an affordable price. The hotel’s indoor waterpark is set to reopen in 2013.

Downtown Sandusky serves up a couple of new restaurants this summer.  Pier 684 and Hot Dog Tony’s make a first appearance downtown and are sure to satisfy even the largest of appetites.

Occupying the airwaves for the first time at Put-in-Bay is the island’s new radio station, WPIB.  In addition, travelers can heat up with the country themed T&J’s Smokehouse or a new Caribbean-themed waterfront restaurant complex, The Keys.  Reach new heights with the reopening of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. The open-air observation deck perched 300 feet above Lake Erie will reopen in July.
The region’s first micro-distillery is set to open in June adjacent to the Put-in-Bay Brewery.   Kelleys Island celebrates its 125th anniversary with a new, spacious bar at The Casino and more extensive wine offerings at The Kelley’s Island Wine Company.  Float around and cool off with wine-tasting tours on a Goodtime Lake Erie Cruise.

Step back into the glory days of flying at The Liberty Aviation Museum, set to open in Port Clinton on July 20. History buffs will find a fully restored B-25 available for rides, a Ford Tri-Motor (nicknamed the Tin Goose) under construction, a 50’s style diner and much more. The all new M3 pass provides family with hours of education and fun at three local area historical museums.  The Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial events begin this summer while the Civil War Sesquicentennial features various exhibits and events remembering the American Civil War.  Last but never least, honor our veterans by stopping by the Traveling Vietnam Wall in Elmore’s Depot Park, August 9-13.
