A Wyoming 28 highway improvement project is scheduled to begin this month south of Lander near the Red Canyon Overlook.
Scheduled work includes grading, draining, milling asphalt pavement, placing crushed gravel base, asphalt pavement surfacing, a chip seal, installation of guardrail and cable median barrier, and other work on .52 miles of Wyoming 28 beginning at milepost 59.50 between Farson and Lander in Red Canyon.
Prime contractor for the $1.18 million project is Western Wyoming Construction
Co., of Lander.
"The contract calls for a 35-day construction window once work begins,
with the exception of the chip seal and seeding," according to Erik Smith,
Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Lander.
"Motorists should expect traffic delays of up to 20 minutes during the
days, as the highway will be restricted to one-way traffic."
Smith said road improvements should be complete by mid-June, weather permitting.
Contract completion date is Sept. 30, 2012.
