Scott Swanson Joins Team as Social Media Account Executive

LANSING, Mich. — Scott Swanson , who brings extensive experience in health care and legislative communications along with a passion for social media and audio/visual production, has joined Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications as a Social Media Account Executive.

In his seven years working in the communications field, Swanson has crafted and executed plans for high-profile clients and organizations, and has lead social media efforts at mid-Michigan region’s largest private employer. A former daily newspaper reporter, Scott’s other specialties include marketing and branding, media management, media relations, and web content creation.

Prior to joining Martin Waymire, Swanson worked as a communications specialist at Sparrow Health System, where he managed social media campaigns and produced video content for social media platforms used by the 7,200-employee health system. Swanson was deeply involved with the health system’s complete rebranding and website overhaul.

From 2005-2007, Swanson served as a writer/communications analyst at the Michigan House of Representatives, working with state representatives to plan strategies and generate earned media in their home districts. He began his career as a reporter at The Mining Journal, Marquette’s daily newspaper, focusing on city government issues. Martin Waymire now has five former reporters on its staff, offering clients broad media relations expertise.

A native of the Upper Peninsula, Swanson graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in English writing. He is an avid music aficionado and guitar player, Detroit sports fanatic and technology geek.
