Herndon, Virginia; May 1, 2012: Mascot Books announces the release of So Big Yet So Small, an educational children’s book written by Peter Weiland, a former Naval aviator.

If you've ever seen an aircraft carrier up close, you know it's very large. An aircraft carrier may seem big to you, but it can also seem very tiny to a pilot attempting to land on it. The ship is both big and small at the same time. Author Peter Weiland explains it all from personal experience. Peter wrote this book in order to acquaint children with U.S. Navy aircraft carrier operations and, especially, the skill required by the pilots who take off from and land on them.

Peter’s seven grandchildren have always been interested in his military days. Through this book he hopes to reach other curious readers with his vast naval knowledge. Peter continues to share his expertise and experiences through volunteering on the USS Intrepid at the Sea, Air, and Space Museum in New York City.

Peter Weiland published this unique book through the Mascot Books Author Program. The Mascot Books Author Program allows prospective authors to publish their children’s books in a way that combines the freedom of self-publishing with all the support a publishing industry leader has to offer.
