"We are excited to announce that Mitch Shanley has accepted the position of information technology manager/network administrator," said NSP Executive Director Tim White. "We have learned that our IT system is unique and takes a strong set of skills to move us forward, and Mitch has demonstrated extensive experience solving the IT challenges that NSP faces."
Shanley has 18 years of experience with IT. He served in the Navy and worked on an aircraft carrier, working on electronics, and worked in security systems when he got out of the Navy. He started working in networking systems in the early 90s. Before coming to NSP, he worked for several companies with challenging IT needs, including working with IBM in two states.
As IT manager and network administrator, Shanley will manage the NSP servers and workstations, manage the database and website systems, and evaluate and improve the database and hardware performance of the organization.
"I am very good at finding solutions to problems, or improving existing solutions," said Shanley. "There are a gamut of products out there, from open source to commercial products, and you try to find the one that works the best, hopefully without having to modify it so that if you upgrade, you don't have issues with the code. You have to like what you do, care about people, and care about their problems."
