Seattle, Wash. - The Seattle-based headquarters of Nikwax N.A. are joining Outdoor Research and other outdoor companies to sponsor the fourth annual VertFest at Alpental Ski Area on March 6, 2010.
VertFest is a winter celebration of the backcountry culture and has quickly become a Seattle tradition. It is a chance to test both stamina and capacity for fun in the format of an uphill/downhill race. With a mix of serious competitors and good-natured revelers, the unifying factor of VertFest is a desire to be outside and active. All are welcome to the party, whether participating in the race or not.
"VertFest is a fun event that benefits a good cause," says Chas Fisher, president of Nikwax N.A. "Nikwax is there to support the local community and the Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche. But we're also there to share some Nikwax with everyone and have a good time!"
Other primary sponsors of VertFest include: Outdoor Research, Alpental Ski Area, Pro Guiding Service, Osprey Packs, SOL Sunguard, Clif Bar and Petzl.
Tickets for the event are $45.00 for Alpental season pass holders, and $75.000 for non-season pass holders. Tickets include race admission, post-race beer, and an avalanche beacon clinic. All proceeds from the day will benefit the local Friends of the Avalanche Center. Tickets are available online at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/98044.
