Los Angeles, CA – Parallax Associates (PAI) is proud to announce the addition of Torsten J. Schmudde, AIA, to its design team. In his new role as Technical Director, Torsten will help enlarge the firm’s capabilities related to architectural technologies and project management. This appointment is part of Parallax Associates’ commitment to be at the forefront of design for educational facilities and to ensure that its clients receive the full advantages of new developments in architectural systems, materials and project delivery.
Torsten is a registered Architect who brings 22 years of professional experience to this position. An innovative thinker and skilled designer, he has worked for internationally renowned firms including Gensler and Taliesin Architects, the Frank-Lloyd-Wright-successor firm located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Throughout his career, Torsten has led architectural teams on many completed buildings of varied scales, scope and technical complexity, consistently achieving a high record of success. His background includes deep experience with civic, institutional, commercial, healthcare and educational facilities. Prior to joining the Parallax team, he was a Senior Architect with Gensler, serving as the technical lead for an AIA award-winning data center for Banner Health in Arizona. Regarding his performance on this project, the Owner’s representative wrote: “Torsten’s level of organization is unparalleled. He easily handled a massive workload, all the while keeping on top of ongoing issues and opportunities. He is someone who possesses a high degree of knowledge and continues to be a voracious learner.”
