“We’re excited to bring back the Run for Peace for its third year,” said Virgil “Al” Taylor, The Peace Project Founder. “This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a fun, healthy activity that helps to raise awareness about non-violent efforts in the community while also demonstrating that Detroiter’s and our neighbors throughout the greater metropolitan communities are united in peaceful, positive activities and efforts.”
The Peace Project is also offering Project Run, a health and fitness program for children, families and other interested members of the community looking to participate in The Run for Peace event. Project Run is an exciting, fun, beneficial program that everyone can join. The free program is available every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at YouthVille Detroit on 7375 Woodward Avenue. Project Run offers a 5K run/walk component followed by half-hour aerobic, belly dancing and yoga workshops. Project Run will continue after The Run for Peace and will soon feature healthy cooking, recipe development and menu planning classes.
