PICPA's New Blog Promises to Engage Members, Provide Insight to Organization

CPA Now, a new blog launched by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), is a new initiative to engage the organization’s members in the conversations they care about. Don’t expect to just find updates on technical pronouncements – CPA Now promises to cover career development, legislation, and marketing, along with technical issues.

Michael Colgan, PICPA’s newly appointed CEO and executive director, says, “CPA Now allows the PICPA to engage its more than 20,000 members using a new medium. The goal is to increase our interaction with them and engage in conversations that will help them grow and achieve, as well as give them insight into the personality of the organization they belong to.”

Colgan will be blogging along with PICPA’s seven vice presidents, each of whom will post content relating to his or her specialties and experiences with PICPA members.

“Each of us brings something different to the table when it comes to blog content. This medium offers us the opportunity to share quality information and personal experience with readers and to hear what they have to say in return,” Colgan said.

The CPA Now blog is the latest PICPA initiative launched since Colgan’s appointment in September 2011. The organization’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube accounts have been enhanced to get members involved with both the organization and social media.
