PRESS RELEASE: Philadelphia-Area CPAs to Serve on Pa. Association's Council

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia-area certified public accountants Robert M. Barbacane, Jacquelyn M. Basso, Nicholas J. Crocetti, and Roland J. O'Brien were elected to Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (PICPA) volunteer leadership positions at its annual meeting, held this year in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Barbacane, of West Chester, Pa., was elected to a two-year term on PICPA Council expiring in 2013. He is a managing partner with Barbacane, Thornton & Company LLP in Wilmington, Del. currently serves on PICPA's Legislation Committee and the state association's CPA-PAC. Additionally, Barbacane is on the board of directors for Crozer Keystone Health System and is a member of the business advisory board for Taylor Community Foundation and Neumann University. Barbacane is a graduate of the University of Scranton.
Basso, of Downingtown, Pa., was elected to Council for a two-year term expiring in 2013. She is the owner of J. M. Basso & Associates in Downingtown. Basso is a member of PICPA's Greater Philadelphia Chapter Executive Committee and the Personal Financial Planning Committee, which she chaired from 2008-2010. Additionally, Basso is on the advisory board for First Priority Bank in Malvern, Pa., and is a member of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry. Basso is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Crocetti, of Collegeville, Pa., was elected to the Nominations Committee for a three-year term expiring in 2014. He is director of tax advisory solutions for CBIZ Accounting, Tax & Advisory Services LLC in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. He previously served as chair of PICPA's Federal Taxation Committee and co-chair of the Taxation and Annual Tax Meeting Committee. Crocetti has also been a member of the State Taxation Committee, the Construction Industry Committee, and the Greater Philadelphia Chapter's Executive Committee. Crocetti is a faculty member for Philadelphia University's graduate program in taxation. He is a graduate of Drexel University.
O'Brien, of Hatboro, Pa., was elected to the Committee on Professional Ethics for a three-year term expiring in 2014. He is a director with BDO USA LLP in Philadelphia, and was chair of PICPA's Employee Benefits Plan (EBP) Committee. O'Brien is currently a member of PICPA's EBP Conference subcommittee and EBP technical subcommittee. He is former treasurer of the St. John Bosco Carnival. O'Brien received his bachelor's degree from Bob Jones University, and his master's from Bob Jones University and Dropsie College. He attended post graduate studies at Temple University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
