PITTSBURGH- Edward R. Friel and William J. Swope, certified public accountants from Pittsburgh, were elected to two-year terms on the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (PICPA) Committee on Professional Ethics at the Institutes annual meeting, held this year in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Their terms on the governing body will expire in 2014.
Friel is a shareholder with Schneider Downs in Pittsburgh. He previously was a member of PICPA's Pittsburgh Chapter Executive and Cooperation with the Bar committees. Friel is active in his local community. He is vice president of the Catholic Charities Diocese of Pittsburgh and a coach for the Cranberry Township Athletic Association. He has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Swope, of Apollo, Pa., is a director of accounting and auditing at Lally & Co. LLC in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the PICPA's Employee Benefits Plan (EBP) Technical Issue and EBP Conference Planning subcommittees. Swope was previously a member of the Peer Review Committee, Accounting and Auditing Committee, and Budget and Finance Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Florida.
