PRESS RELEASE: State Association Staff Member Appointed to Governor's Advisory Council

Panel to focus on efficient ways to deliver state services

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Peter N. Calcara, CAE, Mechanicsburg resident and vice president of government relations for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), was appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Privatization and Innovation last week. The group will explore the functions of state government and whether they might be more efficient and cost-effective if performed by the private sector. Those appointed to the council will serve as volunteers.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to bring the resources of the 21,000 members of the PICPA to this effort,” says Calcara. “The Council’s work dovetails nicely with the work that the PICPA Fiscal Responsibility Task Force has done and continues to do.” Created in 2010, PICPA’s Fiscal Responsibility Task Force is made up of a cross-section of PICPA members working to streamline state government and make better use of performance audits, performance metrics, and public-private partnerships.

In his position at the PICPA, Calcara is responsible for the development and implementation of legislative strategy, lobbying state government, and overseeing PICPA’s political action committee. He is a past-president of the Pennsylvania Association of Government Affairs and a member of the American Society of Association Executives.

Calcara is a graduate of York College of Pennsylvania.
