PHILADELPHIA – Jerry J. Maginnis, a certified public accountant (CPA), was elected 2012-2013 vice president of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) at its annual meeting held in Bedford, Pa.

Maginnis is managing partner for KPMG’s Philadelphia office. In addition to his position on PICPA’s Council Maginnis is a member of the PICPA’s State Steering Committee, the CPA-PAC, and the Legislation Committee. He is also a member of the executive committee of the board of directors of The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, a trustee at Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School, and a member of the board of trustees of Gwynedd Mercy College.

“I am delighted to have an opportunity to serve the PICPA,” said Maginnis. "The profession faces many challenging issues that will impact firms of all sizes, as well as members in industry, government, and education. The PICPA has always done a terrific job in helping its members navigate and respond to those challenges, and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to serve our membership.”

Maginnis, a Sewell, N.J., resident, holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Joseph’s University.

The additional PICPA members elected to serve as 2012-2013 officers include Robert C. Jazwinski, president (Hermitage, Pa.); Robert F. Firely,  president-elect (Sinking Spring, Pa.); Joseph M. Alu, vice president (Scranton, Pa.); and Julius C. Green, treasurer (Philadelphia).
