Story Pitch: Energy-Saving Tax Credits to Expire - Don't Be Left Out in the Cold

With the housing market still in turmoil, many of Americans have chosen to stay put and make small home improvements. The cold weather has brought one type of home improvement to the forefront - energy saving. Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) urges the public to take action as soon as possible on these improvements so they can take advantage of tax credits soon to expire. Your audience should know:

- When do the credits expire?
- What items qualify under the credit?
- Do the improvements need to be made by the end of the year?
- What paperwork is needed to apply for the credit?

With many households receiving that first high energy bill in the mail, interest in energy-saving improvements is on the rise. To speak with a local CPA who can help your audience take advantage of the home improvement tax credit before it expires, please contact Kathleen Miller at 215-972-6188 or kmiller@picpa.org or Jackie Barnard at 267-675-6255 or jbarnard@picpa.org.
