Philanthro will continue its tradition of efficiency and giving by donating 100 percent of the net proceeds to DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Proceeds from the all-city event will go funding teachers' projects in each city's respective communities.
"Philanthro is thrilled to partner with DonorsChoose.org as the beneficiary of our second annual all-city event," said national CEO of Philanthro, Andrew Whelan. "Education is the key to a prosperous future and in challenging times like these we believe that teachers and children should get as much help as possible. We are looking forward to engaging young professionals with this great organization that makes a real impact in our chapters' communities."
Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Donors can browse project requests and contribute any amount to the one that inspires them. Once a project reaches its funding goal, DonorsChoose.org delivers the materials to the school. To date, the organization has funded 219,405 school projects and raised almost $90 million.
The goal of Philanthro's all-city event is to raise enough money to fund at least three projects in each of the Philanthro cities. Since its inception in 2007, Philanthro has donated over $268,000 to its partner charities.
