MACY’S METRO CENTER CELEBRATES PASSPORT DC

Macy’s, America’s Department Store welcomes the world to the Metro Center store to celebrate Passport DC on Thursday, April 29th from 12pm to 8pm. Presented by Cultural Tourism DC, Passport DC is a month-long celebration of international culture. During the month of May, more than 60 countries from around the globe will open the doors to their embassies to showcase the music, dance, art and food of their native land. Macy’s Metro Center will kick-off Passport DC by hosting an Afternoon Marketplace, which will feature a variety of in-store events from 11 embassies including Morocco; Thailand; Korea; Haiti, Bahamas; Nepal; Hungary; Ethiopia and Rwanda

The day comes to a close at 6PM with a cooking demonstration and tasting by Macy’s Culinary Council Chef, Marcus Samuelsson. Combining his Ethiopian heritage and Swedish upbringing, Mr. Samuelsson is a world-renowned culinary master who has fed many of the world’s heads of state and dignitaries, including President Barack Obama. Immediately following, Mr. Samuelsson will sign copies of his latest cookbook, New American Table.
