Head over to the Heartland Harvest Garden at 2 p.m. for a demonstration by Tad Davis of Tadley's Homemade Ice Cream. Guests will be able to watch as Davis makes some of his famous ice cream, as well as learn a few tips from the expert.
At 4 p.m. Shannon Kimball of Firebug BBQ will demonstrate grilling techniques and be available to answer questions about grilling from the garden.
After a day in the Gardens, guests can enjoy a picnic dinner while listening to live rhythm and blues and jazz by dynamic vocalist Heather Thornton from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Lee's Summit Symphony playing patriotic and pops favorites at 7:30 pm.
At the end of the symphony performance, guests will view an extraordinary fireworks display over the Gardens' 12-acre lake.
Don't forget to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the performances. Sandwiches, beer and wine will be available for purchase or visitors may bring their own picnics. Outside alcohol is not allowed.
Festival admission is $12/adults, $10/seniors and $5/children 5-12.
