ITASCA, Ill. - Rainbow For All Children and The Family Institute at Northwestern University announced a partnership and collaboration of their missions on the North Shore. The two organizations will be joining forces to pilot grief support groups at The Family Institute’s Northbrook campus.
The venture will be a success for both: The Family Institute will add support groups in addition to their existing clinical therapy. Rainbows For All Children continues to expand in Chicago’s North Shore to reach more children and teens in need.
“I am ecstatic for the partnership as both organizations’ missions are to provide help and healing for our youth,” said Dr. Francesca Giordano, program director at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. “We look forward to accomplishing great things with Rainbow For All Children.”
The programs are designed for children in first, second, fifth and sixth grade. Groups are now taking place at The Family Institute’s Northbrook location (666 Dundee Road) and interested participants can call Lisa Gordon, PhD., at The Family Institute at (847) 733-4300, ext 524.
“This venture will help expand our goals for helping grieving children” says Suzy Yehl Marta, founder and CEO of Rainbows. “The partnership is a win-win-win for the children in need.”
More About Rainbows For All Children

Since 1983, Rainbows has helped more than 2.6 million children in the wake of their personal or community tragedies. The goals include helping children to develop and strengthen coping skills, learn appropriate behavior and anger management, alleviate depression, and reduce emotional pain and suffering. These coping tools will build the confidence and self-esteem of these hurting children, improve communication in their families and peer relationships, prevent destructive behaviors such as involvement with gangs, alcohol and drug abuse, and ultimately improve school attendance and academic performance.
