For 2012, the Team returns Spanish captain and overall National Racing Calendar (NRC) individual winner Francisco "Paco" Mancebo (Madrid, Spain), Australian sprint specialist Tommy Nankervis (Melbourne, Australia), and Dutch climber Thomas Rabou (Schijndel, Netherlands), and announces the addition of Max Jenkins (Citrus Heights, Calif.) and Chad Beyer (Tucson, Ariz.).
"I think our signings will go a long way to attain our goal for next year," said Directeur Sportif Gord Fraser. "This will provide better support for Paco when he's in a leadership position, and also hopefully give us more options so that we can race a bit more spontaneously."
Mancebo returns to the squad after completing a noteworthy season culminating in securing the men's individual NRC title with 822 points. Mancebo led the RealCyclist.com Pro Cycling Team in its joint effort to earn a fifth-place finish in the NRC in its inaugural season. During the year's campaign, Mancebo won five General Classifications at the BMC Cascade Cycling Classic, Tour de Beauce (UCI sanctioned), SRAM Tour of the Gila, Sea Otter Classic and Redlands Bicycle Classic.
Seasoned riders Nankervis and Rabou also return to the Team. Both riders were major players in assisting the Team in its fifth-place finish in the NRC.
New Team rider Jenkins will bring a penchant for grinding up hills to the squad for 2012. Jenkins, a native of Novosibirsk, Russia, was most recently a member of the United Healthcare Pro Cycling Team and finished 11th overall at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah. In 2007, only two months after becoming a US citizen, Jenkins won the U23 nationals and represented the US at the World Championships.
Beyer will look to aid his new Team in the stage-racing department. In 2009, Beyer won the Pro-Am race at Tour of the Battenkill. This year, he was of a member of the BMC Racing Team and competed at the Giro d'Italia and Tour of Poland. Beyer turned pro in 2009.
The Competitive Cyclist Pro Cycling Team will continue to announce 2012 roster developments as they happen.
