Renowned Los Angeles Times Columnist, Emmy-winning radio and TV host, and best-selling author Patt Morrison brings her leading voice as a fashionista when she hosts the 48th Annual Woodbury Fashion Show on Saturday, APRIL 28,at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
Morrison is also known for her hat collection and will be donning one again Saturday, a hat that is part of an outfit designed exclusively for her and this event by red-carpet fashion designer, Eduardo Lucero. Lucero is the Senior Mentor in the Fashion Design Department at Woodbury University, Burbank, CA.
"Patt Morrison originally connected with Woodbury through fashion because she has an amazing collection of hats," explained Fashion Chair Kathryn Hagen, Fashion Design Department, Woodbury University. Patt will be donating some to our Fashion Study Collection and we¹re planning an exhibit of her hats in the fall because a number of them have historical significance."
Serving as emcee will be a lighthearted assignment for Morrison. Her reports and commentary have covered events spanning from the Olympics to the O.J. Simpson case, riots and earthquakes to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Patt has won six Emmys and ten Golden Mike Awards as founder and longtime commentator on KCET-TV "Life & TIMES," and as host of the Public Affairs program "Patt Morrison" weekdays on 89.3 KPCC , the NPR news affiliate. She also writes the weekly "Patt Morrison Asks" column in the Los Angeles Times.
"Patt is a great Los Angeles historian. We wanted someone at our Fashion Show who is erudite and could lend a feeling of the historical significance of our Fashion Department because we¹ve been around for 80 years and, of course, Woodbury since the late 1800s," Hagen explained. "She will be the balance to the edgy work our students will be showing under the guidance of recognized fashion leaders Eduardo Lucero and Jared Gold. It is going to be a very enjoyable evening."
The convergence of technology, art, music and fashion will be centerstage at the show entitled "Sampling: A Creative Mash-up of Music and Fashion." Nic Adler, owner of the Roxy Theatre is scheduled to receive the 2012 School of Media, Culture & Design IMPACT Award for his contributions to music, fashion and culture. Cocktails start at 5:30pm with the Fashion Show immediately following at 6:30pm.
