Fitness in golf in more recent years has come into its own due in part to super successful professional golfers using personal trainers to take their fitness along with their game to the next level of success. Many if not most golfers in the professional ranks these days take fitness very seriously. First and foremost the fitness that professional golfers concentrate on applies to general fitness including aerobic fitness, leg strength and upper body strength. Along with general fitness special attention is paid to developing a balanced body with respect to strength, both core and total body. Although golf is not an aerobic sport, it does require a huge amount of walking, up to 5 miles in one round, which means being in good aerobic condition can and does help a player be more successful. With a round taking up to 5 hours and with countless hours, such as 6 to 8 hours a day, spent on the driving range, diet for a golfer is very important. In a given week a golfer my spend 40 to 50 hours playing and/or practicing golf. With that kind of time investment it is critical that a golfer maintain a quality diet that’s healthy, nutritional and balanced to optimize the energy levels needed to play that much.  Bearing in mind both diet and fitness, a personal trainer is an expert at creating a workout program for all types of athletes, especially golfers, that is geared for specific fitness and weight goals.
