Denver firms unite to spark dialogue about health

New communications effort aimed at giving Coloradans information and a voice on health care

DENVER—Local communications firms SE2 and Cactus today launched an innovative media campaign that encourages and enables a real-time, statewide dialogue about health care. The effort is the first of its kind in Colorado.

SE2 and Cactus teamed up to develop the Project Health Colorado campaign for The Colorado Trust, a grantmaking foundation that is dedicated to achieving access to health for all Coloradans. The campaign includes television, radio, newspaper, outdoor and digital ads that ask questions intended to engage Coloradans in a discussion about health care such as, “Is health care in Colorado working?” and “Can you afford the health care you and your family need?” Grassroots outreach and social media also will help engage Coloradans to ask questions and suggest solutions for how to make health care work better for themselves and others.

The campaign reflects Coloradans’ sentiments on a variety of health care topics in real time through billboard and website tickers showing numeric and percentage votes on each question. Through the Project Health Colorado website – – people can get information in English and Spanish on a variety of health care topics including cost, quality, coverage and children’s health. They also can vote on and answer questions, propose their own solutions and get information from noted Colorado health care experts.

“Many Coloradans have felt left out of the discussion about health care,” said Susan Morrisey, president of SE2. “Project Health Colorado gives them a place to go to ask questions, get answers, share solutions and support health care that works for everyone.”

The Project Health Colorado website features commentaries from an array health care experts including Colorado Commissioner of Insurance Jim Riesberg; The Colorado Trust President and CEO Ned Colange, MD; Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved Executive Director Gretchen Hammer; and Center for Improving Value in Health Care President and CEO Phil Kalin.

“We wanted to make it easy for Coloradans to weigh in on questions, share their opinions and join a live discussion,” said Joe Conrad, founder and strategic director of Cactus. “This campaign provides a shared forum for them to do that.”
