NAB (Booth #C1610), LAS VEGAS, April 16, 2012—Shure Incorporated today announced the introduction of the UA874 Active Directional Antenna, a flexible solution featuring an integrated amplifier for improved wireless signal reception. This new antenna features the ability to turn the amplifier off and provides the option to attenuate the signal, which allows users to protect the front end of their receivers even in the highest noise environments.
“The UA874 significantly improves the quality of the amplifier over the UA870, dramatically reducing intermodulation, distortion, and noise,” said Erik Vaveris, Category Director for Wireless products at Shure. “It’s an important complement to both Axient and ULX-D. We needed an antenna that would support the groundbreaking RF performance of those two new systems.”
The UA874 is compatible with all Shure wireless receivers and antenna distribution systems that provide 12V DC bias. Using a log periodic dipole array, the antenna produces a cardioid pattern toward the desired coverage area rejecting RF signals from the rear.
“The UA874 features the same low-noise amplifier that we use in our Axient system,” added Vaveris. “It’s the only directional antenna that has active, passive, and attenuated gain settings in addition to an RF overload indicator. It’s a powerful tool.”
Able to adapt to a variety of wireless challenges facing today’s broadcasters in the field, the UA874 antenna can be stand-mounted, suspended from the ceiling, or wall-mounted using the included swivel adapter bracket—ultimately offering professionals the flexibility to deliver exceptional performance in even the most hostile production environments.
The UA874 will be available May 1. For more information, visit Shure during NAB 2012, April 16-19, at booth C1610, or www.shure.com.
