Two years ago, SOLE, the maker of premier orthopedic footbeds, socks and sandals, teamed up with renowned mountaineer Ed Viesturs to create an innovative cause-marketing program in support of Big City Mountaineers. Today, SOLE and Viesturs are pleased to announce their program has raised over $50,000 to help get urban youth into the outdoors.
SOLE's contribution to Big City Mountaineers is the result of an ongoing charitable giveback program; for every Ed Viesturs Signature Edition Footbed sold, SOLE donates $1 to Big City Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) corporation, whose mission is "to provide urban teenage youth in need of positive adult mentoring with challenging and safe wilderness experiences led by qualified adult volunteer guides."

Designed to replace a shoe or boot's factory insole, SOLE Custom Footbeds provide comfort and support through a simple do-it-yourself heat molding process, which allows the footbed to mold to the user's unique foot shape. The Ed Viesturs Signature Edition SOLE is specifically designed for the demands of those who spend lengthy periods of time on their feet. The perforated EVA base enhances breathability and reduces weight, which increases endurance. Silver fibers in the top sheet help control odor and industry-leading cushioning is supplied by 3.2 millimeters of SOFTEC, a proprietary padding material.
