With 4.1 million viewers watching its premiere last Sunday night, LONGMIRE became cable’s top new scripted drama of the year, and the most watched original series in A&E’s history.
Based on Craig Johnson’s popular mystery novels, LONGMIRE follows the exploits of Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor), a middle-aged sheriff solving crimes and trying to find purpose in his life in Wyoming’s sparsely populated Absaroka County.
In the episode titled “The Dark Road,” Norris appears as a religious Mennonite experiencing the 'real world' for the first time during his adolescent rite of passage phase know as Rumspringa. The episode was helmed by TV veteran director Mike Uppendal (“Mad Men”) and stars series regulars Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase and Cassidy Freeman.
Norris was excited at the opportunity to work on this new show, especially getting to work with Katee Sackhoff. Norris adds, “I really loved working with Katee. I'm a huge ‘Battlestar Galactica’ fan, and I remember being on set with her and thinking, 'Oh my god…Starbuck is pulling a gun on me!’ It was awesome."
Most recently, Norris has been gaining momentum on network television with some major guest starring roles, including ABC’s hit-show CASTLE, NBC’s police drama AWAKE, and Disney XD’s #1 rated show PAIR OF KINGS. He is also building a solid resume on the big screen appearing in the recent Eddie Murphy comedy from DreamWorks, A THOUSAND WORDS, a nerdy publisher’s assistant and starring in the indie horror film OPUS from Movie Magic Media’s executive producer Brett Leonard (Lawnmower Man, Virtuosity). Most recently, Norris earned an LA Weekly Award nomination for Best Actor for his starring role as Jimmy Swan in the world premiere of Samuel Brett Williams’ THE WOODPECKER at Studio/Stage Theater in Hollywood.
Currently, Norris can be heard as the voice in the national Wendy’s TV and radio commercial campaigns; and launching this summer, Norris is acting, writing, and producing the comedy web series DIMPLED & BOWING.
A Northern California native, Norris made his way to Los Angeles to study Theater, Film and Television at the University of California Los Angeles. After graduating, it didn’t take long for Hollywood to take notice of his talent, earning him numerous high-profile television credits, including: MAD MEN, NCIS:LA, COMMUNITY, LIE TO ME, BIG LOVE, GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE UNIT, and several others.
