On April 30, 2012 The Horizon Interactive Awards, a leading international interactive media awards competition, announced the 2011 award winners to highlight this year’s “best of the best” in interactive media. We are excited to announce that the website we’ve created for The Daily Washington Law Reporter website received a silver award in the Business to Business category, competing with over 1000 entries from over 20 countries around world.

“The 2011 competition was special to us because it was our 10th anniversary awards,” said, Mike Sauce – Founder of the Horizon Interactive Awards. “The competition was fierce among many of the top entries in all of the categories and there were so many outstanding projects this year. Each year, I am truly amazed at the talent, creativity, artistry, and technical expertise that is on display in our International competition.”

DWLR came to Substance151 for help with developing web-based archives and updating the website’s design, structure and functionality.

"It was important to preserve the sense of history that came with being in business for over 130 years, while incorporating the latest technology to allow site visitors easily search for voluminous data, said Ida Cheinman, Substance151 Principal and Creative Director. "The design combines the late 19th century photos of the DWLR office with design elements that are found in the visual vocabulary of a print publication, but the clean, sophisticated layout and striking red and black color palette bring DWLR into the 21st century."

The new website now has extensive search functionality, intuitive navigation, integrated blog, a clear call for subscriptions, and a free issue download that includes a data capture form. The website is developed using Drupal Content Management System that not only allows the DWLR team to easily maintain their website in-house, but also provides a scalable foundation to accommodate future expansion and enhancements.
